My Story

Lucia is a Brazilian-German translator with a PhD in Translation Studies from the University of Warwick. Her research focuses on exophony in creative writing and translation, particularly writing in a foreign language and translating into and out of one’s mother tongue. She has translated works by Yoko Tawada, including Etüden im Schnee, published in Brazil in 2019. Lúcia contributed an essay to Violent Phenomena (2022) on decolonizing translation and has a book under contract with Cambridge University Press.

Her research interests include translation theory, literary theory, world literature, and adaptation studies. She currently works as a research funding specialist at the University
of Greenwich.
